First Holy Communion
We would like to wish our Second Class the best of luck tomorrow at 11.00am as they celebrate the sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion. They have worked really hard preparing for the sacraments and we hope that the children and their families have a wonderful day.
Photographer Thomas Anthony will be available in the parish hall to take photographs tomorrow.
We are looking for volunteers to help with set up and with serving tea & coffee.
If you are available, please send an email to mooneparents@gmail.com or text Cathal on 087 7713365.
We are also looking for donations of baked/bought goods and the hall will be open from 9.30am on Friday to accept the same.

Damien Dowling
We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Mary, Dorian (Senior Infants) and to the Dowling family on the recent passing of Damien. Damien was a very supportive parent and an amazing father to Dorian. May he rest in peace.

School Book Fair
Our school book fair has come to a conclusion today. We would like to thank you for supporting our book fair and a big thank you to the 6th class children for running it. The school will receive €1433.43 in free books which will help rejuvenate our school libraries.

Head lice
A case of Head Lice has been reported in 2nd/3rd class. Please check your child’s hair regularly and treat it if required.

Music Generation
Many thanks to the parents of Second to Sixth class who have made a payment of €15 for Term 2 and Term 3 for the Music Generation lessons.

Moone Mile
On Thursday June 2nd at 1.30pm, we will be holding our first Moone Mile in three years as part of our Active Schools Programme. The children have begun their training this week in preparation for their fun run where they will run from the Piers Café to the entrance of Shackleton Village. The teachers and I would really appreciate your assistance in making this event as safe as possible for the children. We need parents to volunteer to run/walk with the younger children, to steward the route, to cheer on the children and to provide refreshments at the halfway point. There will also be a special treat for the children after the event.
We also plan to raise our Active Flag on the day which was awarded to the school last year.
Each family will receive a Sponsorship Card. The money that is raised by this event will go towards organising special activities for the children and subsidising transport to sporting events. Please do not feel under any pressure to fill all the lines.

2nd-4th class school tour
The 2nd-4th class school tour to Castlecomer Discovery Park takes place on Monday May 30th. A payment of €35 can now be paid to Ms. Fennelly and Ms. O’Neill. If any family is experiencing financial difficulties at present please don’t hesitate to contact the school as we would hate any child to miss out on their school tour for financial reasons.

Primary Language Sampler
As part of the Department of Education’s Primary Sampler Programme, Fifth and Sixth Class have commenced Spanish Lessons on Wednesdays for the next six weeks with Spanish Tutor Ms. Heydon. In our school we appreciate the importance of languages as a life skill, an opportunity for the pupils to think in a different way and build opportunities for the future. With a number of languages being used by the pupils at our school, this module really helps to build awareness and celebrate the diversity within the school and community.

Europe Day
As part of the Blue Star programme, Fifth and Sixth Class celebrated Europe Day on Tuesday May 10th. They baked cakes and treats from countries in the European Union. We were honoured to have the Deputy Czech Ambassador to Ireland Filip Varum attend the event. He was accompanied by Minister for State Martin Heydon.
